Jonita Gandhi
Jonita Gandhi was born in Delhi and brought up in Canada and is known to the Indo-Canadian community as ”Toronto’s Nightingale”, was born in New Delhi, India and moved to Toronto as an infant, growing up with strong influences in Canadian culture while maintaining a close connection to her Indian heritage. She started performing at the age of 4 and also maintained to be excellence in her academics BHSc and HBA at the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
While studying Jonita worked as an intern in CIBC World Markets.
She has been taking training for Western and Hindustani classical music before starting a professional career.

Career
Jonita’s professional career started on YouTube when she first collaborated with Aakash Gandhi on January 2012, who is an American composer, pianist, songwriter, and entrepreneur who is currently based in Mumbai, India.
They collaborated on Aakash’s Youtube channel named “88KeysToEuphoria’’
Their first cover ‘’Paani Da Rang’’ which their cover has been viewed by over 5 million people worldwide.
Which help Jonita gain international fan following and which boosted her popularity among Bollywood personalities like Amitabh Bachchan, A.R Rahman, Salim – Sulaiman, Aayushman Khurana.
In 2013, her online presence culminated in her first Bollywood break: the title track of Chennai Express.
By renowned Bollywood musical duo Vishal – Shekhar. She has collaborated with several other YouTube artists including ARJUN for Can’t Forget You (Tujhe Bhula Diya)

Which gained over 2 million views in its first month. Jonita’s own YouTube channel not only showcases her collaborative works, but also live performances and TV features, including her appearance with her band on Kappa TV’s Music Mojo.
And her performance on MTV Coke Studio.
Jonita had also been on concerts and live performances with Sonu Nigam who gave her an opportunity to gain popularity among Indian Fans too.

She has also given voice in the movie “Highway” and got a chance to sing 2 of the songs “Kahaan Hoon Main’’ and implosive silence.
A.R Rahman had made a Concert Film called “One Heart” which was made in 3 languages English, Hindi and Tamil.
When asked about her experience working with Bollywood she said,
“I have grown up listening to A.R. Rahman’s compositions and he has been a true inspiration for me throughout my career. When I was asked to sing for the film, it was nothing less than a thrilling moment for me. I must mention that working with Sonu Nigam has constantly encouraged me and inspired me to move to India and dive into the music industry head first. I feel my efforts have paid off with Highway and I would not want to look back from hereon. It’s been a childhood dream to be a singer but that Bollywood would happen so soon, was not something that I had expected. I sincerely hope the music of the upcoming film will be appreciated by the critics and people from within the industry.”
Awards And Nominations
2016 marked a year of award nominations for Jonita. The Breakup Song brought her nominations for all of the prestigious awards of Bollywood in the Best Playback Singer (Female) category, but it was for her song Gilehriyaan (Movie: Dangal)

Although Jonita Gandhi’s work is at a budding stage until now whatever she had earned. Her desired and determination will help. As a musician her goals except for making songs and earning recognition is to spread awareness about social causes, touching people’s heart with music, and singing to inspire people and help them to achieve their inner peace via music.
In 2019 “Desi Magazine” which is news and lifestyle publication which had mentioned Jonita on their cover page.
Indo-Canadian community considers Jonita as Nightingale of Toronto.
